Storm Shelter / Safe Room Registry

South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department has created a Storm Shelter / Safe Room Registration Program. This is a
free and voluntary program allowing residents of Van Zandt County who own a personal storm shelter or safe room
within the county to register their storm shelter / safe room with the county. If your property is not located with-in
the South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department's coverage area, your information will be forwarded to the Van Zandt County's
Emergency Management Coordinator.
This storm shelter / safe room registration program is part of our effort to be proactive in response to rescue situations
that can occur as a result of severe weather. Having an accurate list of Storm Shelters / Safe Rooms will provide first
responders valuable time saving information to assist our community and ensure residents with Storm Shelters / Safe Rooms
are safe and we can provide care, if needed. First Responders can also assist in rescues in the event that Storm Shelters /
Safe Room exits are blocked by debris or structural damage caused by the severe weather.
This information will be maintained by the South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department and the Van Zandt County's
Emergency Management Coordinator.
